Position Overview

Colorado Thrives seeks an experienced and motivated Director of Programs to join our team. The Director of Programs will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Upskill 2030 initiative to upskill and place 30,000 underserved Coloradans into good jobs. 

  • The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with a passion for driving positive change. 

  • The position will supervise a small team of dedicated colleagues. 

  • The Director of Programs will become an expert in the needs of the businesses that have committed to our ambitious upskilling goals. 

  • The position will also be responsible for curating program partners that can effectively deliver skills and training programs to learners and helping those partners to scale and serve a large population of learners.


Program Development and Planning:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define program goals, objectives, and success metrics 

  • Design and develop comprehensive program plan, including timelines, budgets and operational plans 

  • Supervise two or more junior team members 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with business and community leaders, government officials, and partner organizations 

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of human resources needs of Colorado Thrives employers 

  • Act as a liaison between Colorado Thrives and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration 

  • Serve as a resource on the value of skills-first hiring 

Project Execution: 

  • Evaluate and develop a curated list of educational training partners who can deliver effective programs for targeted learners 

  • Serve as a resource on program expansion and scale for educational training partners with high impact 

  • Oversee the implementation of upskilling programs, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets 

  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, making data-driven adjustments as needed 

Community Outreach and Education: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage and educate the community about Colorado Thrives' initiatives. 

  • Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and outreach activities. 

Reporting and Documentation: 

  • Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of program activities, outcomes, and lessons learned.

About the Successful Candidate

The Director of Programs will be a self-starter who is passionate about our mission and the opportunity to leverage resources for a large-scale upskilling effort. We are looking for: 

  • A passionate self-starter dedicated to achieving the goals of the Upskill 2030 program 

  • An experienced program manager with demonstrated success in innovative training, community development, or a related field 

  • An energetic leader with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously 

  • A strong communicator who is excited to work with a team of similarly committed colleagues 

  • A motivated individual who works well independently and collaboratively 

  • A connector who is familiar with Colorado's social, economic, and environmental landscape, and, preferably, has experience in Colorado’s upskilling ecosystem 

  • An individual with the skills and experience needed to be successful, which can be assembled from a Bachelor's or Associate’s degree program, significant experience in a relevant field OR a combination of both. This likely means three or more years of experience working in a related area, such as innovative educational environments, corporate human resources, marketing and outreach and or high-energy social enterprises 

  • Receives excellent references from professional contacts in Colorado

Colorado Thrives is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and offers competitive salaries and benefits. Our team operates in a hybrid work environment, with at least three days of in-office work each week. Only exceptionally qualified applicants will be considered for the top of the range.
